Braces can be painful and uncomfortable, but for a lot of people, they’re a necessity. Dental technology is always changing and traditional; metal braces may soon be a thing of the past. Dr. Angie S. Rhodes offers another solution to transform your teeth and straighten your smile. That solution is called Invisalign. Invisalign is a series of custom-made, clear and removable aligners designed to improve your bite and alignment instead of traditional braces. It can be used to treat conditions such as; overbite, underbite, overly crowded teeth, overly spaced teeth, shifting teeth (patients who previously went through orthodontic treatment with braces).
It’s rare that someone is not a good candidate for Invisalign but in that case, we can recommend you to an orthodontist for an alternate treatment. Dr. Rhodes has been offering Invisalign since 2007 and is proud to be designated a Preferred Provider by Invisalign. Our staff has undergone extensive training through Invisalign’s training programs. So, we can offer you the best Invisalign experience.
Here’s how you can get started:
The first step is to come in for our complimentary initial assessment. On your next visit, we’ll take impressions and photographs of your teeth. Once we’ve got an idea of what your needs are, Then Dr. Rhodes decides on a treatment plan and sends the impressions off to Align Technology. From there, Align Technology will create a series of aligners that are custom for you and your treatment plan. The aligners are made of smooth, BPA-free plastic and won’t bother your sensitive oral tissue. This is one of the major benefits of Invisalign over braces, as metal brackets and wires tend to irritate oral tissue when you first get braces. Each set of aligners will be worn for about two weeks before switching to the next pair. With each passing week and each pair of aligners, your teeth are gradually becoming more and more straightened. Aligners should be worn night and day, only being removed when eating, brushing or flossing.
There are three major advantages to Invisalign over traditional braces, they are;
Clear – The aligners are virtually invisible to others.
Removable – The aligners are removable for eating, brushing and flossing. You can eat and drink what you want when you want, and you won’t have to change your daily oral hygiene routine.
Comfortable – The aligners are comfortable because they fit snugly over your teeth without the inconvenience of brackets and wires.
