Preventive dental care is important because it is the easiest way to maintain the best oral health. Preventive dental care can help each member of your family keep a healthy and beautiful smile by protecting against dental decay, periodontal disease and gum disease.
Our approach to a healthy smile here at Dr. Rhodes’ office starts with routine dental cleanings, regular checkups, fluoride treatments and digital X-rays.
Routine Dental Cleanings
Professional cleanings are just as important as brushing and flossing daily. Your appointment most often begins with X-rays to determine if there are signs of disease or decay. Our dental hygienist ensures your comfort while using special instruments to remove plaque buildup and calcified tartar between the teeth and gums.
The hygienist then will polish your teeth to remove surface stains, leaving your teeth clean and shiny. Most patients have their teeth cleaned every six months. More frequent cleanings may be necessary if you exhibit signs of periodontal disease.
Regular Checkups
Regular checkups following professional cleanings are the key to sustaining your dental health. The examinations are important to check for any problems that you might not see or feel. Your checkup is also the perfect time to ask Dr. Rhodes any questions you might have about your oral health.
Fluoride Treatments
Fluoride treatments are offered to prevent tooth decay in children and adults by making it difficult for plaque, sugars and bacteria to damage your teeth. It is painless and can be done in just minutes. After fluoride treatment, you will be asked to avoid eating or drinking anything for 30 minutes to let your teeth absorb the fluoride.
Digital X-rays
Our office uses digital imaging technology. This technology is fast, easy and comfortable for patients. It produces images that enable Dr. Rhodes to make informed decisions and provide the most effective treatment. Early diagnosis can save you money in the long run so existing problems don’t become more serious.
